Charlotte Regan
Director Charlotte Regan’s work is distinctive for its vibrancy and strong narrative voice while depicting real-life stories with surrealist flair. Her internationally-acclaimed debut feature Scrapper won the World Dramatic Grand Jury Prize at Sundance (2023) and went on to be nominated for Best British Film at 2024’s BAFTAs, where Charlotte was named a Breakthrough Brit.
Charlotte has also applied her unique filmmaking style to commercial projects, directing spots for the likes of Alzheimer’s Society, British Airways, Macmillan and Cadbury. Alongside an impressive oeuvre spanning film, music and commercials, she’s helmed episodes of TV shows such as ‘The Responder’ (BBC) and ‘Buccaneers’ (Apple TV). Charlotte has recently finished production on ‘MINT’ – an eight-part series commissioned by the BBC.
After beginning her film career shooting low-budget promos on Islington’s streets with local rappers as Grime was taking off, Charlotte soon proved her immense storytelling talent easily translated from music video to short film with her first short Standby. The five-minute comedy about friendship and routines – set entirely in a police car – was nominated for a BAFTA. Her second short ‘Fry-Up’ was screened at Sundance and Berlinale, while her third ‘Dodgy Dave’ was presented at BFI Festival London and TIFF.
