Lou Escobar
Filmmaker and photographer Lou Escobar is renowned for her introspective and vibrantly cinematic work, which explores identity, marginality, the body, and perception.
Born in Paris to Spanish parents, Lou first started her career as a photographer and quickly gained attention for her striking visual lens that is heavily influenced by the worlds of cinema and theatre.
Her commercial photography portfolio includes a campaign for Gucci, celebrating the brand’s iconic 1947 Bamboo handbag alongside wider work for the likes of Diesel, adidas, Nike, and Coca-Cola. Editorially, her work has been featured in internationally acclaimed titles such as i-D, GQ, Vogue, Paper, Playboy and Metal Magazine.
With an undeniable cinematic quality to her stills work, moving image came as a natural evolution for Lou, where she continues to craft visual worlds that perfectly blend fiction and reality. She has directed commercials for Espolòn Tequila and TK Maxx, and shot a short film ‘Familia’ for Vogue Portugal.
