Director Tajana Tokyo’s films spark with expressive physicality due to her professional dance background. As a filmmaker, Tajana excels at crafting vibrant worlds populated by charismatic characters as demonstrated by her joyful Apple advert ‘Something to Celebrate’ and stunning Ezra Collective promo: ‘God Gave Me Feet For Dancing’ – which claimed Best R&B / Soul Video at ‘24’s UKMVAs.

Tajana’s short, ‘Ninth Life’, which premiered at the American Black Film Festival, is a progressive, seductive drama. Her Saweetie video ‘Is It The Way’ sizzles. While ‘Salone Love’ (2024), her award-winning, Sundance-premiering short is charming and profound.

Naturally, Tajana’s dance expertise enlivens her music videos, including those for Flo ‘Fly Girl’ and Channel Tres ‘6am’. Her recent commercial portfolio features ‘Costume’ for Sky and ‘Everything’ for Venmo, in addition to her iconic Apple Music’s Superbowl Rihanna announcement and engaging pieces for Coppafeel, Amazon Music and E45. While her debut short, ‘Back Beat’ emphasised black professional dancers’ resilience and kinship.
