Director and writer Naqqash Khalid is renowned for his acclaimed debut feature ‘In Camera’.
Released in 2024 and backed by BBC Films and the BFI, ‘In Camera’ won Best First Feature at the Dinard British Film Festival, the FIPRESCI award at Thessaloniki International Film Festival and received further nominations at the BIFAs, London Critics’ Circle Film Awards and London Film Festival. A fairytale about late capitalism told through a playful satire of performative representation in show business, ‘In Camera’ was hailed as one of the most original debuts in years.
Since ‘In Camera’, Naqqash has worked on a number of short films. In collaboration with Riz Ahmed and WePresent, he directed a short documentary exploring why the 425-year-old play ‘Hamlet’ holds a mirror up to society today. Most recently, ‘Flint’ was awarded Best UK Short Film at the 2026 London Short Film Festival.
He was one of three filmmakers to receive the BFI x CHANEL Filmmaker Award in 2024, named a Screen Star of Tomorrow in 2020 and one of The Guardian’s Great New British Directors to Watch.
Naqqash co-wrote the script for ‘Good Boy’, starring Stephen Graham and Andrea Riseborough and is currently working on his next feature.
